Albertaco's has by far the best.. THE BEST... Tacos De Lengua in town! Every time I take a trip I must have one last tongue taco or burrito... and I take trips quite often!

Back in high school this place came to Barnes road and it was the best. The burritos were as big as Chipotle and cheap! Now they are a bit smaller, a little more pricey, but they are just as good, and that is the main thing! I eat there 3-4 times a month and always am satisfied no matter what time or what I order. Chicken or beef tacos, California, and Breakfast Burritos are the best. The cheese enchiladas are good too, but are a little small. Next to other greasy Mexican dives this place is the best, but perhaps not the cleanest. However I would highly recommend this place for anyone out of state, as this is often the first place I recommend to visitors

Great food. Minus one star for bugs. The floor was teeming with them. Not just one or two. Multitudes. There was an infestation of some kind. I looked out of the corner of my eye when turning my head sideways to chow down on a chorizo burrito and caught a glimmer of a bug nonchalantly crawling on the floor in search of freedom, food, or his wife and kids. I thought about it for a moment and thought, "This burrito is so good, I just don't care." But then when I took a second, third, and fourth bite, new bugs caught my field of view each time. To my dismay, a thorough panoramic view of the floor revealed a disquieting scene of a bug village. It was as though all bugs in the surrounding community had come out to sell their wares at the market, and the whole floor was bustling with activity. There was an entire ecosystem established on the cold tile floor of this beloved Colorado Springs treasure. You know how some people can't look down when they're afraid of heights? Imagine that but with bugs and being afraid you'll bite into one. If the food wasn't so darn good, this would have been a real deal breaker. I hope they can fix the bug issue. They'll be back to 5 stars then. Ground up bugs in the food or not, it was still delicious. I don't expect much from a 24/7 taco place, but I do expect a maximum of 5 bugs seen on the floor during my dining experience. Maybe shut down for 12 of the 24 hours, get this bug thing taken care of, and go back to serving delicious affordable Mexican food the other 8,748 hours of the year?

First time I came here, I was convinced that this was the best mexican food in town. Everything was perfect. Second time, everything was a sloppy tasteless mess. I'll give em another shot sometime to make a final decision. If that second time had been my first, I'd probably never be back. Maybe it was an off day.

This establishment is one of the few places in Colorado Springs that is open 24 hours a day. Last night the employees were overly-generous and gave me an extra ingredient: human hair. I was completely disgusted. Never coming here again.

Bomb. Best mexi food outside of California. You want good cheap fast food mexican food, go here. Always a fan and who can complain about a place open 24/7?! And make sure to get the Cali burrito.

So first of all, I love that this place is open 24 hours. There's little to know choices for food at 1:30 am d: It looks very rinky dink and sad from the outside but that's okay. Don't expect exceptional service. They're very short and concise and don't seem very happy. Not a huge deal but it would certainly help if they seemed like they wanted to be serving me. I got a chicken and cheese quesadilla... And let me tell you, it's AMAZING. Oh. My. God. It's phenomenal. You get three huge quesadilla triangles loaded up with cheese and chicken. It comes with pico de gallo and guacamole and I absolutely love it. I also got chips and guacamole. The chips were average and not very crisp/crunchy. I'm not a fan of the shredded cheese on top. The guac was good, with good size chunks of tomato in it.. But it was a little on the salty side. Overall, I would most definitely recommend it to anyone and will be returning some time soon!

Came in on a Friday for lunch because I believe this is the same as in OC, CA and it's the bomb out in OC and real Mexican food is really hard to find out here. Got rolled tacos, beef taco and carne asada taco with diet coke. OMG best friggin Mexican food in the Springs, the real deal. Get a shredded beef taco and rolled tacos, you won't regret it!

This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant has amazing food. The customer service is not great which is why I gave 4 stars (especially through drive-thru). The carne asada fries are to die for!!! They have the best guacamole and green salsa I've ever ate!!! The prices are good and the food is great. Give them a try!!

Everyone who lives in Springs knows that there aren't a ton of 24 hour food options so Albertacos is GREAT! I always get the breakfast burrito, pretty much everyone else I know, gets the carne asada burrito and they're both awesome. Everything is made fresh, good size portions and are pretty cheap. Drive through has some long lines at night after bars close so you may wait a while, but its worth it.

So I'm kind of sad to give them three stars because I've been here multiple times and loved it until my recent visit. It could be less than three stars but I don't want to be too cruel. Anywho... anybody who lives in Colorado Springs has ran into this annoying flying ants, right? Last time I was here their entire dining room was being mauled by those ants. Considering they were EVERYWHERE I do have to worry about the cleanliness of the food. The other times I have been in, it was never like this. Hopefully this situation gets taken care of soon so I can go back and have a breakfast burrito because they are awesome.

I love this place. It's not the cleanest place in the world, but I think the food is great. It's only $4 (a few cents off) for two enchiladas (no rice/beans). Drive through in the middle of the night can take some time, but this place brings me back to hole in the wall places in California. I definitely recommend it.

Ambiance: Stand alone building located on the edge of a dying strip mall. I think they are down to three locations now in Colorado Springs. Order at counter and wait for your name or number (neither was called during my visit, good thing I saw that my tray was placed on the counter). I am surprised this place has not been shut down by the health department. It is always very dirty. On my most recent visit around 9pm on a quiet evening, the dining room was a mess, and looked as though it had not been cleaned all day. Several tables had trays of food left behind from previous customers, windows were stained with dried on salsa that had dripped down the panes, the floor was a sticky, gooey mess, and I won't even tell you the condition of the bathrooms. Service: Whether the help speaks English or not, they could still be friendly. Here is how my last visit went: I walk in, go up to counter. This overweight, unkempt guy moseys over, and just stares at me like he hates my guts or something. The kind of look you get when you are in the bad side of town, and the homeys give you a look like "what are you doing here". No hello, no may I take you order, not a single word from this guy. I give him my order, he rings it up, and then just stares at me, expecting me to read the total off the register, so I will know what to pay. When my food was ready, he put it down on the counter (note, I was at my table, far from the counter, good thing I was watching, otherwise my food would have simply just had been abandoned on the counter by the so-called "help".) Food: I have had worse, if that is any consolation, but the food here is greasy, and not very authentic. I have read a few reviews from people who say this is a good place to go to drunk. I guess you would have to be, since if you showed up sober, you would not think it was all that great. Overall, this place is down right disgusting with some pretty lousy food. For those of you looking for good late-nite Mexican food, you have much better options with Taco Express, Big City Burrito and the truly incredible King Chef's downtown. Take a pass on this place!

Two visits. Two different basic burritos. Saltiest things I've ever tasted. Not even a picky person.

Avoid eating in the establishment but the food is outstanding. The breakfast burrito is brilliant - add your selection of hot sauce and enjoy. Other food is just as tasty. This isn't a place for a nice sit down meal but great grab and go food.

Got introduced to Albert's from the guys at my work, Big O Tires on Woodmen. Once I had my first breakfast burrito from Albert's, I was hooked. Big ole burrito packed with eggs, bacon, potatoes and then you can add sour cream, guac, etc. Fills you up and is nice and cheap. Two locations that I visit are the one on Austin Bluffs and the one down N Academy by Pikes Perk. The tortas are also pretty good and the two taco (beef) plate with rice and beans is rockin. The green salsa is the best and gives it a nice kick and if you add a horchata it can't be beat.

The california burritos are the best here. Tried it once with my husbands fam while we were visiting colorado springs. And we traveled one hour from home to come again to this place because we loved the california burrito so much. Its one of those hole in the wall kind of places. I havent tried anything else besides the burrito but the other food looked just as good. Will be coming back again soon hopefully maybe I will try something new on their menu.

So greasy. So nasty. I am a fan. I am not sure of people who eat this in the daylight hours. However, for late night post-bar cravings this place is awesome. No one who comes here expects a 5 star dining experience. I ordered inside once and it was ratchet in the most awesome way possible. However, to avoid the ratchet I only do drive though. I've seen people peeing in the parking lot, dirty things happening in parked cars in the lot and fights breaking out. This is CS at its most awesome - and I still come back time and time again. The things I go through for that California Burrito...

The size of the burritos are exceptional. The Colorado burrito is my fav. It's sooooooo good. The sauce they give is good too and compliments the food well. I like that it's open 24/7 but that also makes me a little skeptical. I've only been through the drive thru but I hear the inside is dirty. Customer service could really improve. It's hard to hear and make out what they say when ordering through the drive-thru. I go back for the food but would probably go back more often if it was a complete pleasant experience.

Open 24 Hours and never disappoints! Just a carne asada burrito with guacamole and pico de gallo does the trick! The breakfast burritos, enchiladas, and the California burrito are good as well. Prices are incredible for the amount you get. I usually only eat half and save the half for later. I have never had a problem with the waiting time or the cleanliness! Good prices, great food.

Cheap greasy mexican food in a dingy restaurant, the chimichanga I ordered was fine but was not impressed.

While the food may be good, this is a gang hangout. A member of our group was badly beaten by a group of gangmembers there, and another came out with a black eye. BEWARE!

Anyone who rates this place less than 5 stars is stupid. I'm from California and our Mexican food isn't even this good. I suggest the number 13

Loooove everything I've had. From the carne asada fries that remind me of Cali to the delicious horchata. I love how the food is quick and cheap too! I don't think it's the cleanest establishment but we eat here pretty often after discovering this restaurant but we always take it to go!

Breakfast burrito = big, fat happy Deb. This place is a dive, but the food is yummy.

I only drive through, and I order the same thing every time. When I have an Albertaco's craving, they NEVER let me down! It's important to clearly and slowly enunciate your order at the drive-through, but omg, delicious!

After a night of drinking, sending sober friend for breakfast burritos and carne asada burritos fixes any potential hangover.

Typical cheap, hole in the wall Mexican joint. Breakfast burrito is awesome, especially with their hot sauce - it got me through many a college hangover. Open 24 hours too, a big plus.

Ick.Ick.Ick. I hear so many people give this place good reviews, but I just don't get it. I've tried Albertaco's twice and each time was equally bad. The meats and sauces just all blend together in an overly greasy mess. I would almost forgive some of the greasiness if the quality and taste was still good, but that was a no-go. This place went from 2 to 1 stars due the extreme dirtiness everywhere you look. No thanks. Skip Albertaco and pay a visit to the taco truck on Union near Constitution. Fresh, heavenly and always good.

Talk all you want about the atmosphere, but I really find it utilitarian to the purpose of enjoying the focus of the restaurant, that is the food. Albertacos is absolutely the best place to go in CO Springs for good Mexican food. It has always been my experience that the unassuming places that draw a good crowd are the best food you can find. If that is what you are interested in than this is where you want to go. No, I have never had an experience where the employees were rude in any way. I think that any perception of that nature is more based on societal differences. This should cause no bias for the food enthusiast. Enjoy this great treat, a soft spoken star of the Springs area.

You have to be drunk to like Albertaco's or you just don't know good mexican food.

  • Ricky F.

Albertaco's is the spot to go after a late night at the bar. These are open 24-hours a day and there is something about their food that hits the spot after a long night of drinking. Maybe it is the greasy food, maybe it is the cheap Mexican, fast food that everyone craves while drunk! Most of the food here is pretty good, this location is definitely not one of my top choices, my favorite one is in Widefield off of 85/87. If you do go here, my top choices for food are 1. The breakfast burrito, 2. carne asada burrito, 3. chicken cheese burrito, and to drink a large horchata!

  • Marianne D.

Even when knowing it is 24/7 and a cheap-eats place... - Updgrade the menu (legibilty/fading issues) - Label the finished product better (my bean was a bean and chicken) - Make the quesadilla flat with sour cream and salsa and guac (even if a dollar more) and remove 1/4 of the grease. - Redo the restroom ... then I'll re-consider my brother's opinion of the place.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
